When I opened my eyes this morning, I blinked them closed and then open again, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. It looked different in our room. The morning light that pours through the big windows seemed a different quality. I rolled over and was stunned by what I saw.

There is no filter on that photo. Not just the sky, but the trees, the grass…my world, in that moment, was ROSY.

After a hard time, yesterday, a relinquishing of angry feelings I didn’t even realize I had, this view floods me with fresh perspective. We walk through difficult days that we don’t always understand, but there is always a new morning that follows. Always the fresh promise of a new day, and the reminder that our big God is the author of second chances to join Him in His way…which is, of course, always the best way. Our challenges seem to look a little different in the fresh morning light, less foreboding with the rays of heaven casting out the shadows.

By the time I got my robe on and fed the dog, it had all changed. The sky is now all blues and grays, and the landscape, its (hopefully not for much longer) winter-brown. But as I sit here, looking at this picture, I’m flooded with thankfulness for a tender God who would wake me up, at just the right moment, to see, not with rose-colored glasses, but an actual rose-colored world delivered just for me. And, chances are, just for you, too.

It’s a new day, friends.

It’s a beautiful, rosy new day.
