I’m heading out today for our church’s annual Women’s Retreat. It’s something I look forward to every year; really, who doesn’t look forward to some good time with girlfriends and God at the beach? I’m usually involved in the planning in some way, and this year is no different in that regard.

However, there is one thing that’s different.  I’m the speaker for one of the breakout sessions. This is an opportunity to which I know God has called me, and while I love to write, speaking is just a teensy bit outside my comfort zone! I’ve found, however, that He likes to keep me in that area of “discomfort”, as it means I have to depend on Him! And, depend on Him, I must! So, that’s why I’m writing this morning.
I’m humbly asking for your prayers. I am speaking tomorrow (Friday) morning and, again, Saturday morning. I would ask that you pray for these specific things:
  • That the hearts of the women that will attend these sessions (whom I don’t believe will be there by accident) would be prepared, even now, to receive the word God has for them.
  • That God would empty me of, well, me, and fill me up with Him.  His words – not mine.
  • That I would be articulate and succinct in my delivery and that said delivery would be an enhancement of, not a distraction from what God wants to say.
  • That He would be glorified.
Oh, how I thank you! I’ll let you know how it all turns out and any nuggets I learn in the process.
By the way, do you know that I pray regularly for you? If there is something specific that I can pray, let me know! It would be my privilege to partner with you.
Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for each another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  James 5:16 (NIV)
