It’s been a really good weekend. So good, in fact, that I realized as I fell in the bed, last night, that I hadn’t written a single word in this place yesterday. And you know what? That’s okay.

Why?

Because I lived a lot of words.

Saturday, I donned my apron and I hung out in my kitchen from 7:30 in the morning, until 1:00 that afternoon prepping the dishes that would be Maddie’s birthday dinner the next day. My babies arrived about then to stay the weekend, so while Brody napped, Lilli and I baked her cake. While all that was happening, Kevin and Maddie greeted a new group of special needs riders at the barn, with all their parents and siblings, for the taping of our first promotional video for Hope for the Trail. In spite of cold temps and high winds, the entire affair went off without a hitch, and more, the miracle of therapeutic riding was witnessed, yet again, as a little girl with Downs Syndrome, who had never participated in anything her parents had tried, road with a beaming smile the entire time.

Happy.

Exuberant.

Awestruck.

Sunday, our immediate family spent the day together. We laughed a lot. We watched football (Cowboys for the win! Finally.), while eating too many chips and homemade guacamole. We had our family pictures taken for the first time on our own property, with warmer temps, beautiful foliage, and no wind, then sat around our dining room table, polishing off Saturday’s culinary efforts and finishing over what turned out to be the best cake ever. To top it all off, the kids were so tired they went to bed almost an hour earlier than usual, leaving a (good) tired Mimmie to curl up on the sofa, in front of the fire, with her man and a glass of vino.

Fun.

Delicious.

Thankful.

Blessed.

I’m listening to Kevin get ready for work, as I type, wondering how early the kids will get up since they went to be earlier. Lilli is off school all week, so I have them both for the day, before returning them to their rightful owner this afternoon. I’m considering what today’s events will hold from the warmth of my bed, as the last fleeting moments of quiet surround me. One thing I do know is that this weekend was the perfect way to begin Thanksgiving week. Surrounded by the things for which I am most thankful, I started the walk into my 53rd holiday season, and, well, there is only one word that best describes that…

Full.

Happy Thanksgiving week. May each day find you exactly the same way.

So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. ~ James 1:17 MSG
