Mornings in Grandbabyland are unpredictable at best. Well, they’re that way when I’m here, at least. With five people typically in this house, they fall into a regular rhythm, but just one new person throws the whole thing a different direction. I never cease to be amazed by it.

ValĂ© sleeps in a different place when I’m here. Lilli wakes up much earlier than usual because she wants to see if I’m still in her sister’s bed across the room. If I’ve snuck out to feed the baby, or write (on the blog if I’m really lucky, but mostly on my phone as a FB post), she gets up to investigate. Meanwhile, her brother does NOT go right back to sleep after his feeding, as is his norm, presumably because I’m a different, interesting person first thing in the morning.

One new person and the whole house is turned on its ear.

Yet, there are also lots of smiles and hugs and giggles. Lots of new things learned. Stories read. Little things shared that will be carried for a lifetime. Hopefully, there are three little people who will grow up to be a little bit better because one new person came and shook their world up.

We can do that, you know. Be the one in our own little circles. Follow in the Master’s footsteps and show up in His name and change the world right around us. We can shake it up by showing up and pointing the way to the Father, simply by doing life with others and walking in the Way ourselves.

After all, we’re called to be like Christ: One new person, and the whole world is turned on its ear.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV

“In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.” 2 Corinthians 2:14 MSG
