Have you ever noticed how when you ride a merry-go-round you can’t really focus on any one thing, because you’re moving too fast, and everything is a blur of color as you go whizzing by? It’s fun at first. The ups and downs are kind of exciting, but it’s the spinning that gets me after a while. That not being able to focus thing really becomes bothersome, and, in the end, can sort of make you feel unsettled, or downright queasy.

My life has been sort of like that these last few weeks. Preparing for career changes, as Kevin retires from management and goes back into the field (and I gear up to manage his office during the first months, to a year, of that transition), gearing up for a busy summer, and trying to get as many home improvement projects done and out of the way before all this change starts.

Even though I’ve been sleeping like a rock (hurray!), I’m still tired. Well, my mind is tired. Tired of trying to focus as I strive to keep up with the pace of my thoughts, and tired of all the spinning.

I need to get off the merry-go-round for a while.

We have some dear friends coming into town this week. On the spur of the moment, we asked them to come and they said yes! So they’ll be here, and we are going to take a few days of R&R. Then, just on the heels of that, we’ll be doing some Lilli-celebrating as she turns four.

FOUR.

(I might pull her off this ride, too, for a while, if she has the audacity to keep growing.)

Unless something hits me that I absolutely MUST share, I’ll cease blog-posting (I’ll still be posting to Facebook), starting tomorrow, and pick back up on June 17th.

Two weeks.

Surely (SURELY) things will stop spinning so fast after two solid weeks with my feet on the ground! Who knows? Maybe you should give it a try, too!

“And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  Exodus 33:14 ESV

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 ESV

The apostles then rendezvoused with Jesus and reported on all that they had done and taught. Jesus said, “Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest.” For there was constant coming and going. They didn’t even have time to eat.” Mark 6:30-31 MSG

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” Jeremiah 31:25 ESV
