It’s much later on a Saturday morning that I typically rise. Usually, regardless of the day, I’m up around 5:00 or 6:00, but not today. Today I slept in. We had our big annual event last night (on top of the regular office responsibilities I’ve assumed due to staff reductions) and mama is T I R E D.

And happy. It went well except for a few comical things that (I hope) made it more endearing to those in attendance, and more, IT’S DONE.

This event wrapped up some things in our lives like the ends of a ribbon, tied in a bow. It finds me reflective, this morning, as I think back on many wonderful times just like it, with many more wonderful people. It finds me pondering peaks and valleys, trials and triumphs, and countless hours of hard work and dedication.

And more than anything else, it finds me standing at the precipice of the vast unknown, with excitement for what lies ahead.

Something fresh.

Something challenging.

Something to which God is calling us to trust, as we stand at the edge of the future and He gently pushes us off.

What unknown are you facing this morning? Let’s grab His hands and step off together, knowing all the while that while He’s pushing us forward, He’s right there to catch us and carry us, too.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 ESV

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV

Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.
It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it?
There it is! I’m making a road through the desert,
rivers in the badlands.” Isaiah 43:19 MSG
