As I was considering Veteran’s Day today, I looked up the lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner. Did you know there are four stanzas?? After reading through them all, it made me wish that we would adopt the final stanza as our National Anthem, instead of the first.

Read these incredible words with a gratefulness in your heart for a country founded on a trustworthy God and for “free men” willing to put their lives at risk to keep it that way.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
