I’m heading out today for our church’s annual Women’s Retreat. It’s something I look forward to every year; really, who doesn’t look forward to some good time with girlfriends and God at the beach? I’m usually involved in the planning in some way, and this year is no different in that regard.
However, there is one thing that’s different. I’m the speaker for one of the breakout sessions. This is an opportunity to which I know God has called me, and while I love to write, speaking is just a teensy bit outside my comfort zone! I’ve found, however, that He likes to keep me in that area of “discomfort”, as it means I have to depend on Him! And, depend on Him, I must! So, that’s why I’m writing this morning.
I’m humbly asking for your prayers. I am speaking tomorrow (Friday) morning and, again, Saturday morning. I would ask that you pray for these specific things:
- That the hearts of the women that will attend these sessions (whom I don’t believe will be there by accident) would be prepared, even now, to receive the word God has for them.
- That God would empty me of, well, me, and fill me up with Him. His words – not mine.
- That I would be articulate and succinct in my delivery and that said delivery would be an enhancement of, not a distraction from what God wants to say.
- That He would be glorified.
Oh, how I thank you! I’ll let you know how it all turns out and any nuggets I learn in the process.
By the way, do you know that I pray regularly for you? If there is something specific that I can pray, let me know! It would be my privilege to partner with you.
Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for each another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16 (NIV)
Melinda, I am heading out today, too (a writers conference in Dallas). Thanks for sharing your prayer need. I have just prayed for you & will try to remember on the weekend if my mind is not too boggled with all I'll be involved in 🙂 God bless and empower you this weekend!
May it be a profoundly impacting gathering for all of you, one in which you all grow closer to the Lord and to each other.
Be blessed,
Kathleen

Walking out of that comfort zone? I will pray for you and for the women who I am sure will blessed by the words that God gives you.
Since you visit me often, you know what my prayers are. Thank you that you partner with me in seeking God.
Love to you-

Dear Melinda,
I know the women will be blessed by you. You present your message so well on this site; in person, it can only be better still. I pray that His words will flow from you. Love, LINDA
Dear heavenly Father,
In the matchless name of Jesus of Nazareth who sits at the right hand of the Father forever making intercession to the Father for us…I lift up Melinda to you right now as she speaks this weekend. May Your light SOOOO shine thru her that the women would see You in a new, deeper, more profound way that would impact their walk with You in such a way that You would be glorified magnificently above all of our imaginings. I stand in agreement with all of Melinda’s prayer requests, Lord….for the good of ALL the women involved and for the glory of the ONE AND ONLY ~ NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES, JESUS, the CHRIST. AMEN and AMEN
Can’t wait to hear all about it.
Blessings,
Becky
P.S. Thanks for praying for us. I really appreciate it!
This is graet! God will meet you there and lives will be changed for His glory. 🙂
You are a willing vessel, that’s the most important thing!
I’m praying for you this morning Melinda. It is Saturday right now and I’m asking God for such a filling of Him that He is overflowing out of your mouth and your heart. May you be filled with such peace and pure joy for your Savior.
I love ya. I can’t wait to hear about it.
Hugs,
Fran
