My little Brody is five months old tomorrow, if you can believe it. I can’t, but that’s beside the point. He’s at that age where he’s starting to figure out that a lot of the stuff that flashes in front of his eyes all the time is actually connected to him. Like his hands, for instance.
He grabs one with the other like it is a cool new toy, examining it all over. He also will grab an actual toy now, and is just beginning to realize that he controls its movement. He’s a little jerky with it all, and always surprised when it does what he wants.
It’s funny to me that, even though we are fully aware of our hands, and all their movements, we still act like infants when it comes to controlling them. We allow them to grab things we know are bad for us, as if we had no idea we were in charge of their every move.
I’m thankful God can use anyone to teach and humble…even a tiny little guy who grabs at the air and charms with a drooling, toothless grin.
“No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 MSG
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 ESV
