Darkest, black velvet,
pierced by millions of pin-prick holes
and held to the light.
Silence envelops like a winter coat,
but does nothing to stop the sweet
and welcomed caress of cool air on skin.
Suddenly, cotton candy paint is swiped
across the velvet, and silence is broken with
each stroke, songbirds riding in
on their own melodious strains. Fresh and bold,
the brush quickly covers the black until only
coral and azure remain, the caress joined by a
kiss of light and mercy. Behold, with grateful eyes,
the flourish of the Artist’s signature
on the gift of today’s painting,
unique and new.
“God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:22-23 MSG
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” Psalm 143:8 ESV
