From My Heart
I just received a comment to a previous post. It was written respectfully, was obviously heartfelt, and though it was written by someone I apparently know, they chose to leave the comment anonymously so as not to upset me. I really appreciate the heart from which it was written, but I'm still a little heartbroken. Not because I don't think people should be able to express their own opinions; after all, isn't that what I do everyday in the land o' blog? No, I'm heartbroken because there might be others who feel the same way, and if that's the case, I haven't done a good job of truly articulating where my heart is on the subject of abortion. Here is part of the comment:I spent 25 days in the...
Changing One Heart for Many – Week 32
Just joining us? Go here to catch up and join the movement! You know, it wasn't too long ago that you didn't really hear that much about abortion in the news. You heard a few blurbs here and there around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade every year, but beyond that, it wasn't mentioned all that often. Or, maybe it was that we just weren't listening. Certainly, the people that work tirelessly on the front lines of the pro-life movement were talking about it, but with a Republican administration in the White House, I think a lot of us felt semi-comfortable that the whole pro-life issue was just being "handled" or "protected" by those of "like-mind".The thing is, those that are pro-choice have...
A Birthday Giveaway: On a Mission
-Comments have been closed.Today I turn the page on another year of my life...going from 45 to 46. I'm officially in my "late" forties! Amazing. On the one hand, that fact could send me into a pit of despair, but on the other hand, I'm staring a new phase of life in the face! I'm back in my home state, my children are a year or so away from finishing college, I just celebrated 26 years with a man I'm still crazy about, and I seem to have ministry opportunities coming at me from all sides. Life at 46 is looking pretty good! It's the ministry thing that really has my blood pumping these days. The brokenness in our world is staggering to say the least! While every generation has been able to...
The Other Side of the Screen
This Internet thing never ceases to amaze me.What started with blogging to, well, basically my mother about 2 1/2 years and about 270 posts ago, has grown into an intricate and precious "network of hearts" to me. These are people that I never would've otherwise known; yet now, through the exchange of lives through our computer screens, we've come to know each other quite well, and in many cases have developed a mutual love and respect that leaves us shaking our heads in wonder. Most of the time, these relationships we've developed are never "fleshed out", but sometimes the opportunity presents itself for us to meet. Today was one of those days for me...I got to meet and have lunch with...
Changing One Heart for Many – Week 31
Just joining us? Go here to catch up and join the movement! The time we have left before lasting decisions are made about national healthcare is beginning to run out. Hopefully, by now you've contacted your lawmakers and attended a town hall meeting. But, maybe you haven't. In an attempt to join forces and make a big impact, the largest pro-life coalition in history has been formed. (If viewing in a reader, go here for video). This is our opportunity to affect history and it is going to take every person with a heart for the unborn, and the men and women that suffer in the wake of abortion, to stop this legislation from going forward. That's you and me. Every one of us makes a difference....
