Changing One Heart for Many – Week 15

Just joining us? Go here to catch up and join the movement! This Thursday, May 7th, is the National Day of Prayer. There are all kinds of worthy prayer initiatives surrounding this important day, but the most well known are the rallies and events sponsored by the National Day of Prayer Task Force, headed up this year by Shirley Dobson and Beth Moore.Truly, this year's prayer event is one of the most important, following right on the heels of President Obama's First 100 Days - 100 days filled with appointments and legislation in direct opposition to the very tenants upon which our country was founded. Perhaps our biggest prayer should be that our current president would recognize the state...

Life-filled Words

Last month, I ran across this post by Sophie over at LifeWay's All Access Blog. This particular sentence struck me:"One of my biggest struggles as a blogger is to make sure that I'm not so busy writing about my life that I forget to live it."I think everyone of us that spend any time at all in the blogosphere can relate to that sentiment. It wasn't too long after that, when I stumbled upon this quote from Henry David Thoreau:"How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live."At this moment, I'm writing while looking out a window at a tree blowing back and forth with the wind. If I was so inclined, I could write about it's majestic beauty, the size and shape of its...

The Broom Closet

I'm happily writing from our little apartment in Texas. The pup and I pulled in on Thursday evening to the waiting arms of a man who was just a mite tired of bachelor living, and over the last couple of days, we've gotten ourselves settled in. I awoke this morning thinking about church. With all of our travel and disjointedness of the last few weeks, our attendance has been sketchy, at best. We've already said our "official" goodbyes at our home church in Florida, and while Hubs has visited a church here in Texas, I've yet to try one. I was thinking to myself this morning (with no small amount of excitement) where the Lord would have us end up. Who would we meet? With whom would I do Bible...

Changing One Heart for Many – Week 14

Just joining us? Go here to catch up and join the movement! Each week when I write this post, I peruse the headlines regarding pro-life issues and try to keep you up-to-date with what's happening. Here's what I found today:Clinton reiterates Obama Administration's support for global family planningSebelius likely to be confirmed as HHS Secretary; Republicans not expected to filibuster17 Year Old girls in US will soon have access to over-the-counter "morning after" pillI will admit to feeling very discouraged; after all, the change that we're praying for is not the change we seem to be getting. Then, out of the blue, the word "laminin" drops in my head. Please know that I'm not a biologist,...

I'm Traveling the Road, um…HOME

To Texas, that is...and my man! Glory and Hallelujah! My best pup Riley and I hit the open road yesterday, to drive my car over and start living in Texas most of the time, instead of Florida. The house isn't sold yet, nor have we moved our furniture, nor have we found a new home. But, we've done everything that needs doing on the Florida end, for now, and it's time for both of us to be in one place!Because I have a secret desire to be a travel writer/hotel critic, I thought I would flesh out some of that pent up energy with a quick ode to La Quinta. Yes, La Quinta. Typically, I am a complete hotel snob, turning my nose up at the roadside hotel chains that beckon weary travelers from every...
