A Quick Survey – UPDATE

UPDATE: I'm working on a post in answer to my survey below, but would love to hear from more of you - especially those who are heavily involved in WM leadership. If you're concerned with sounding negative against your church, you're welcome to comment as "anonymous". Thanks in advance for your insight!I had two interesting conversations today, both on the same topic: Women's Ministry. Or, to be more specific, the lack thereof. In these completely separate conversations, it was mentioned that the women's ministries in each church represented had been cut back drastically. Where there had once been several ways/events through which women could get connected, there were now frightfully few.The...

In Pursuit of Excellence

As mentioned in my last post, I just enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Sacramento area. Spring has sprung over there, as the trees were in bloom everywhere you looked.I kept saying, over and over, "God does SUCH good work!"Melissa wrote a wonderful post on excellence last week, over at the Living Proof Ministries Blog. As I perused the comments, I was blown away by one in particular and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since:"I haven't wanted excellence in quite a while; I got preoccupied with enduring."Excellence vs. Enduring. Changing One Heart for Many – Week 6

I'm writing from Sacramento, California, where I've had the privilege of attending a conference with my friend Pat Layton as keynote. As the author of Surrendering the Secret, she brought her message of hope and healing to 350 women over the course of the weekend. I was so blessed to watch as woman after woman filed to the front for prayer, many releasing their "secrets" of past abortion, and seeking healing from the pain they'd been carrying for years. As I was getting ready to write this post, I was struck by the thought that, even though our president is pro-choice and there are so many things working against the cause for the unborn, there are still great strides being made for it....

A Little Faith Restoration

I've been cleaning out some clutter this weekend. I started with my guest room closet, which was appalling, and ended with my kitchen desk drawers, which were forever getting hung on things too large to have been put there in the first place. Among the errant packing tape and the misplaced screwdrivers, I found this: You may be wondering why in the world I not only would've kept a business card with change taped to it, but why I would even have it in the first place! Well, let me tell you. A couple of years ago, I did some proofing for a book publisher in Iowa. I had finished working on a manuscript and sent my time-sheet, along with some other documentation, in for payment via US Postal...

Changing One Heart for Many – Week 5

Just joining us? Go here to catch up and join the movement!Women who have had abortions, and are willing to talk about it, have a huge influence on those who are pregnant and considering the procedure themselves. Of course, the influence can go either way, depending on the stance of the woman doing the talking. The March issue of Glamour (on newsstands now), features a large article on the subject of abortion. Please know that I am not a supporter of Glamour magazine (or similar publications), as I feel they put a huge focus on issues that lack moral substance and leave women feeling empty and wanting. However, they have a very large readership and, thereby, a large influence. In this...
