Wash Day
I'll let you in on a little secret: I love doing laundry. I know. Don't hate me. What is considered never-ending and the most mundane of tasks by the general population, I find deeply satisfying. I love the sight of fresh-smelling, neatly folded clothes and the knowledge that they will wrap my family in warmth for the next week. I love being victorious over stubborn stains; so much so, that on more than one occasion, my youngest traded shirts with a friend at school who spilled something on theirs and was afraid to bring it home, dirty, to their own mom! She said to them, with confidence, "Let my mom wash it; she LOVES stains!" Perhaps more than any of these things, I love the way that...
Jesus Is There
There are a few different types of "home", I've decided. There is, of course, the home where you live most all of your days. The place where life happens, from the mundane to the marvelous, with the people you love most in the world. Then, there is the home of your youth, where your parents reside and where you were molded and shaped (in my case, with a lot of love) into the person you've become. There is the home of your spouse's parents; the place where you visit and discover, little by little, the threads that make up the tapestry of their lives. It is also here that, if you are among the extremely blessed (as am I), you become one of those threads and are embraced for the color you add....

Out on a Limb
Over the past several months, I've been praying my way through a little booklet of the names of God, compiled by my friend Debbie Williams. This week's name was "Branch", as found in Jeremiah 23:5.The days are coming, "declares the LORD, "when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. With all my talk about trees of late, I found it interesting that my focus was directed to the name "Branch". I spent the morning mulling it over.As I pulled out of my development, onto the road that would take me to all of my errand destinations, another car was making a U-turn, allowing me to see these words emblazoned across the top...
My One and Only Treeless Christmas
Hey there friends, and welcome to my contribution to Boomama's Christmas Tour of Homes, and the tour going on at Hooked on Houses. Let this post be a window into what a treeless Christmas looks like! Why treeless, you ask? Well, let me tell you. Since we are going home to Texas for Christmas, and because my two daughters are away at college and meeting us in Texas, Hubs suggested that we not put up the tree this year. At first, I was aghast at his suggestion. No tree? For the first time, not just in our 25 years of marriage, but, well, EVER in my LIFE? It helps to understand that ours is a tree from the pre-already-put-together-and-lit generation of artificial trees, and while it is huge...
