Home, Home on the Wange
This is a post about my girl. My first girl. She's the first one to simultaneously fill my heart to overflowing and stomp it to bits, because she's the one who made me a mother. About a year and a half ago I wrote a piece about her that describes her so well, I've decided to include it here as a tribute to her freshly turned 22-year-old self. It should be new to most all of you, as there were only about two people that read my blog at that time, and one was my own mother! So, without further ado, Happy Birthday Sweet Girl! No, that post title isn't a typo. That is what my first darling daughter used to sing at the top of her lungs, back when she had a little trouble saying her...
Invalid
When you read the title of this post, how did you read it? Invalid or Invalid?I was reading something this week about a person who, after surviving an accident, was rendered a quadriplegic, or an invalid. At first, I skimmed right over it, but after a second glance, I saw with fresh eyes that invalid was spelled the same as invalid. I found myself feeling completely incensed over this realization. Certainly, that person, though now without the use of arms and legs, was still valid! Here are definitions for the word in both forms:invalid (adjective): suffering from disease or disabilityinvalid (adjective): being without foundation; logically inconsequentSuffering from...
Preparing the Fatted Calf
It's nice to be back at my keyboard and catching up with the world o' blog, although it was a wonderful week away. We all need to step away from time to time, don't we? I've returned to a busy week, but it's a good kind of busy, as my girls are coming home this week! We're having an early Thanksgiving and a birthday celebration for my oldest, as she turns an astonishing 22! While I see my youngest fairly frequently, as she goes to school only a couple of hours away, my oldest lives 24 hours and several states away! We haven't seen her since May and, like the cry of the old Wolf Brand Chili commercial, "well, that's too long"!! When you have a child that lives far away, they don't have to...

However, in addition to the daily prayer team for the president, they are doing a 77-days to Inauguration Prayer Vigil for the President-Elect. We're a few days into this now, but I would LOVE for you to become involved. They will send you a daily email with a specific prayer request and scripture for President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden.Across...

We temporarily interrupt our regularly-scheduled programming to announce a network hiatus until Monday, November 17, 2008. Programming will resume at that time. That's all a fancy way to say that I'm concentrating on my man and some relaxation this week, as we take a little time off. But don't stray too far, because I'll be right back with you next week. Blessings all around,
