Cool Opportunities for a Cool Friday Afternoon

I'm heading into the weekend, like everyone else, but didn't want to leave the land o' blog without sending you to do something good for yourself and for someone else!First, that sweet Amy Beth over at Ministry So Fabulous is on her last day of a fundraiser for her incredible ministry to elementary through high school girls. The cool thing is that she's not asking you to part with your cash; she's asking you to partner with her and Microsoft with a simple download that will raise needed funds. She's even offering a drawing for the participants for a $25 Starbucks gift card! The fundraiser ends TONIGHT at MIDNIGHT, so hurry on over and help! To learn more about Starlite Ministries (her...

American President

Yes, this is a political blog post. But, before you exit the blog as quick as your nimble fingers can carry you, hear me out. I didn't say it was your average, ad nauseum political blog post. I was reading my friend Mary's thoughts on politics and it got me thinking. There MUST be a better way to go about a political campaign. We've been hearing the same things OVER AND OVER AND OVER; one candidate giving his view and bashing the other guy and vice versa. Eventually, I think we all start tuning out. And, heaven knows, we shouldn't. This is BIG, LIFE-, FAMILY VALUES-, MORALS-ALTERING STUFF. Couldn't there be a way to keep us interested and always finding out more about the candidates as...

OF COURSE, you've had those days where you've had 1002 things to do and something happened that required your sudden attention, derailing your plans. If you're like me, you like having your day wrapped up like a pretty package; comfortable, "favorable to your purpose."I'm not a fan of the "monkey...

He Never Tires

While in Santa Fe, my brothers and I spent a day hiking together in the Santa Fe National Forest. All of us love nature and enjoy photography, so we toted our cameras around as a second set of "eyes", capturing memories for further ponderance. As I was going through my pictures (which had been shot quickly, in great numbers), I started to see a pattern.  The pattern was "repetition". My eye apparently was drawn to things that I found beautiful due to the way they were repeated.  Here's what I mean:Certainly I had some amazing photos of breathtaking vistas and beautiful trails, but there was something about these tight shots that really touched me. God shows Himself to us in the grand and...

Breaking Free

With all the Surrendering the Secret giveaway talk (it's continuing over HERE) over the last two weeks, there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes emailing from people I sort of know, and people I've never heard of, about the topic of "breaking free".  Since it stemmed from the giveaway of a post-abortion healing study, the obvious direction of the discussion was the breaking free from the painful past of abortion.  However, as we all know, that's not the only thing from which a break would be beneficial.Beth Moore, author of numerous books and bible studies, calls Breaking Free her "life message". As a self-proclaimed "former pit-dweller", she longs to help other women find freedom for the...
