A Giveaway and an Opportunity
Greetings from the Lone Star State! Yes, I'm back in Texas with my man, for a search for some land to retire to on down the road, and some R&R back "home". I've been filing away some thoughts that have been coming to me during this trip, but they will take a little longer to convey than a quick stop for some coffee shop wi-fi will allow. However, in the mean time, I have something I'd like to tell you about and a giveaway as an accompaniment! You may recall that I spent part of my trip to Texas last month with Debbie Williams of Hill Country Ministries. Debbie and I first "met" when I ordered her prayer journal and began following her blog. Back in April, the Lord impressed upon her to...
Leave Your Jar – Part 2
**Several of you wrote and told me you were having problems leaving a comment yesterday. I also had some "comments that need moderating" on my dashboard, but there were no comments listed! I have no idea what the problem was, but if you had issues leaving a comment or yours is not showing, I'm sorry! Thanks for trying, and hopefully, today will be better! In order to better understand this post, please begin by reading Part 1.Yesterday, we left off with Eve having to process and deal with the consequences of her sin. We also discovered that those consequences are our consequences, as well. As she was "the mother of all the living", what was hers is now ours. After having lived in the...
Leave Your Jar – Part 1
I've grown quite close to the Woman at the Well. I posted about her a while back; a quick snippet into her life and how the Lord purposefully sought her out, despite her "unclean" status and reputation. But, what I've really grown to love about her is her propensity toward trying to fill her longings herself. She had a deep, deep longing to be known, to matter, to be significant, and she tried to fill it herself, always coming up short. I love this about her, because I identify with her. I have those deep longings myself, and I'm willing to bet you do, too. Because she's referred to as "The Samaritan Woman" or "The Woman at the Well", and because those are a mouthful and less than...
Basking
What a weekend! Truly, it was a God-infused, all-about-Jesus weekend of which I was SO BLESSED to be a part. THANK YOU to all of you who blessed me with your prayers and support and kind words. I am forever grateful.I've been basking in the after-glow since I've been home from the retreat, trying to think of how I would describe it to you. This is what I've come up with: I think that when we really get out of the way and let God work through us, we are the recipients of a remarkable experience. We are able to see that we are really insignificant in the equation; it's no longer about us. We are just the imperfect vessel through which He pours out His Word. Upon that realization, we can sit...
A Request
I'm heading out today for our church's annual Women's Retreat. It's something I look forward to every year; really, who doesn't look forward to some good time with girlfriends and God at the beach? I'm usually involved in the planning in some way, and this year is no different in that regard. However, there is one thing that's different. I'm the speaker for one of the breakout sessions. This is an opportunity to which I know God has called me, and while I love to write, speaking is just a teensy bit outside my comfort zone! I've found, however, that He likes to keep me in that area of "discomfort", as it means I have to depend on Him! And, depend on Him, I must! So, that's why I'm writing...
