Home Alone

Admit it. This is the first image that popped into your head when you read that title, isn't it? Now, imagine my face in there and that's what you've got today. Me. Home alone. It's funny - that look, in my case, could be taken two ways:1. "I'm home alone! My kids are gone! What will I do? Woe is me..."2. "I'm home alone! My kids are gone! What will I do? WooHoo baby, it's YOU and ME!"Suffice to say, I'm vascillating between the two! :o)E is all settled into her new little home and it's really cute. We had her best friend B with us, so she could see where E's going to be and help her get settled. It was, of course, an emotional day for me, but a fun one. It's an odd, but good place where I...

And the Rains Came

Well, I posted that we were preparing for rain, just like Noah, and today, THE RAINS CAME! Baby Girl was assigned housing on campus, in the room-type of her first choice! The fun part is that we got the phone message after we lugged in the last of the supplies that we bought FOR that room! Like I said, we were preparing for the rain! Some probably think that we were really taking a chance and cutting it too close. But, I find it really interesting that she didn't get her acceptance letter until the day before graduation, and she didn't get her housing assignment until the week before move-in. I don't think this was coincidence. God's timing never is. I think that what He wanted was to show...

Baby Girl Grown

Yesterday was a special day. But, for some reason, I couldn't make myself sit down and write about it. It was a little surreal. Then, suddenly (as cliche as it sounds), one day you wake up to a grown child. One who picks out her own clothes and fixes her own hair and drives away to her own "play dates" that you didn't arrange. Yesterday was that day for me. Eighteen years ago yesterday, I was busying my very pregnant self with paying bills and getting the house clean before I went to the hospital to be induced the next day. I was 10 days past my due date and I was...

24 and counting…

My friend Amy is always talking about her "cutie husband". Well, I want her, and all of you, to know that I, too, have a cutie husband. Mine's a slightly older model, but has been well-maintained, well-cared for and well-loved...for 24 years! That's right...we celebrated 24 years of wedded bliss on Monday the 30th. Just shy of a quarter of a century...wow! I've mentioned before that we met in history class in the 10th grade. We married the summer after our sophomore year in college and lived out the obligatory "pauper years" while we finished school. I know there are many people, especially those that marry young, that talk about how hard their first year was, but ours was wonderful! I...

Living with Wildlife

It occurred to me that I forgot to post a little tidbit about E's college. I think the sign speaks for itself. Aahhh...Florida!
