His Words
Every Sunday around here is for His words instead of mine. If you're facing uncertainty, take comfort in these: "He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever." Psalm 121:3-8 NLT "You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “God, you’re my...
Welcome Mat
I've been sleeping in our guest room the last couple of nights, not because there is trouble in paradise, but because there is trouble in my sinuses that requires all manner of nose-blowing, and causes (much to everyone's dismay) unseemly snoring. Yeah, it's all glitz and glamor over here. So, I've been sparing my man and enjoying the comforts of our guestroom, glad to see that it feels nice back here. I like for anyone who stays with us to feel welcome in our home and comfortable while they're here. One of my favorite things in the room is a framed original family piece that came from my mother's family. It sits on the bedside table and looks like this: Sweet and folksy, isn't it?...
Happy
As you can imagine, if you read my short and snotty sweet post yesterday, I spent the entire day on the sofa with a box of Kleenex and hot tea. There was TV watching ad nauseum, book reading, and Internet cruising, the last of which found me watching Pharrell Williams' "Happy" video. I can't imagine that you haven't seen it, or at least heard the song, but just in case, here it is: Catchy, isn't it? I'd heard it before, of course, but someone had posted it on Facebook, and I clicked on it to listen again. One thing I'd never noticed, however, is the website posted at the end of the video: 24hoursofhappy.com. Curious, I clicked over. It's a 24 hour continuous loop of other people's...
On Making Sense
We are in full moving mode, on top of full birthday party mode. Yeah. Those two really don't go together, but when you have grandparents coming in for their grandson's 1st birthday, and you are planning your move, you capitalize on your good fortune and turn it into extra manpower. You kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Or two grandparents. Ha! I jest. (Or maybe not. I'll have to let you know tomorrow) Last night, Emmie left with a car loaded up to take to the new house, and her friend, Tracy (who is also Lilli's day care provider) loaded her car, as well. Lilli was SUPER wound up with the party decorations going up, anyway, so helping carry stuff to the car and actually...
It Happens Early
One of the things that has been afforded to me, since I've been a grandmother, is a ringside seat to the human condition. You live your whole life just making it one day at a time, and those days start stacking up, one on top of the other, and, when you look back, you really can't remember when you started looking at things a certain way, or what, exactly, shaped your perspectives. When you're a mother, you see some of these things happening in your children, but you're really too busy just trying to get them raised to adulthood, in one piece, to truly contemplate it all. But when you're a grandmother, you don't have all that stuff in the way. Your focus is the child before you in...
