And…ACTION!

There are two things that my little gal, Lilli, would binge on, 24/7,  if given the freedom to do so. The first is candy. The girl LOVES candy, and comes by it honestly because her father is the reigning (ironically light-weight) CANDY-EATING CHAMPION OF THE WORLD! The other is her beloved iPad. You give her some Martha the Talking Dog, or My Little Ponies, or "Lady" (Lady and the Tramp), and hand her a "Lolli" (DumDum lollipop), and her world is spinning perfection. Of course, her world is not spinning perfection nearly as often as she'd like, but she campaigns regularly for her two top love languages, in hopes that someone will throw her a bone and start speaking them. Last night,...

Going Back Home

Going Back Home

Kevin and I walked our property on Monday morning, since we were off for Presidents' Day. During the winter, we can easily get through some places that, in the summer, are so thick with underbrush that you can't pass. We were walking through one such place when I spotted this... I love bird's nests. They amaze me by how they are so sturdy and delicate at the same time. I snapped my picture, considering how long it would be until the birds came back to fill it. We have nests made by barn swallows on our porches, and, every year, they return to lay their eggs. God made it instinctual for them to return home. The other night, over dinner with my high school friends, we were talking...

Lonely Hearts

Last night, I met some old high school friends for dinner. I was early, having planned for heavier traffic than was the reality (when does THAT ever happen?), so when I arrived, I told the guy at the host stand how many people were going to be in our party, and he set about pushing a couple of tables together. I sat at our now-big table, surrounded by empty chairs, place settings, and three baskets of chips and three bowls of salsa. (Hmm. I wonder what everyone else will eat?) However, because I was a full 15 minutes early, the host guy clearly thought I'd been...

A Hard Truth

A Hard Truth

When we drove in, Sunday night, from our long drive home from Iowa, we saw our barn cat (and rodent-killer extraordinaire), Miloh's, eyes glowing in the headlights. He was up by the house, in the flower bed, and seemed intent on what he was doing. We pulled into the garage, grabbed a few things out of the car, and then glanced over to see what he had. It was this: Imagine our joy and happiness! Never have I been so thankful for Miloh and his skills. He is relentless, constantly scouring not just the barn, but the entire property for the ickiest members of the animal kingdom. He has killed a representative of everything I NEVER WANT in my house. He is a lethal rock star. And you know...

His Words

Since we got in late last night, and we're off today, I slept in. When I awoke, I had this scripture on my mind, and I figured someone else needed to hear it, too. God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." Ephesians 3:20 MSG I'm going to let those Words stand today. Know that no matter what you're facing, He's bigger. He's creative. He's ABLE...beyond anything we can dream.
