Fe Fi Fo Fum
Almost exactly a year ago, I met a new friend. She was really struggling with a particular relationship in her life, and couldn't understand why she couldn't seem to let it go and move past it. At that time, she'd recently moved to a new location, and after listening to her for a while, it seemed that the Lord had moved her away from the situation in order to heal and restore. A year later, He's done a lot of healing. He's taken places she didn't even realize were broken and healed those, too. He's freed her from the chains that had formed around her heart, and yesterday, out of the blue, He opened a door toward restoration. He had set her apart to work on her heart, and now, it...
Controlled Chaos
I saw a movie, once, where a guy was juggling tennis balls - a lot of them - and with the magic of Hollywood, the balls stopped moving in mid-air, and he walked out from under them as they hung there. Ever feel like your life is going the way of the tennis ball? You're trying to juggle a lot of different things, trying to stay in control of each and manage them all well, then it becomes too much? You get tired and realize that you just can't keep it up anymore, or, worse, you've lost complete control. We don't have that Hollywood magic in real life, so the balls come crashing to the ground. Or, maybe the components of your life seem to be in the hands of others and they are the ones...
Passionate Commitment
It was cold yesterday. Misty, with temps hovering around freezing, and icy damp that cuts through your clothes and makes it seem impossible to warm up. I had just built a fire, then walked into the kitchen, when I saw her out there. Our daughter, Maddie, on her horse, April. I knew she'd been working all day in this mess, and now she was at our barn, working our horses, before finally putting April through her paces for their next endurance race. She's tired of the cold. She told me so the other day, sick of the unpredictability of a Texas winter; especially this one that's been so crazy cold. But she doesn't complain about it. She never complains. As I watched her through the window, I...
On Seeds, Nostrils, and Life
This weekend, I was cutting up an apple, and immediately thought of Lilli. She will tell you, at any provocation, that apples are her FAVORITE, that she LOVES them, and that they're yummy for her tummy. When I cut the apple in half, and saw the tiny little seeds against the white flesh, I literally laughed out loud. During this recent visit, Emmie was holding Brody, and Lilli walked up to them to ask a question (It was likely to ask if she could have a snack, because that's her favorite question to ask). She was right in front of them, and looking straight up from her three-year-old vantage point, her view was her brother's little nose and his two tiny nostrils. They distracted her...
His Words
I've come to a decision that, on Sundays, I'm going to post His Words instead of my own. I realize that I post scripture with every post, but Sunday seems like a good time for His Word to be the only words. I'll share a scripture for us to ponder throughout the day, and carry into the following week. I'm going to start off this week with something very familiar, but foundational...and maybe in a different translation than you've ever read it! Happy Sunday! "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of...
