Connections

(If you are a reader that does not read from Facebook, I just returned from a trip to see my grandkids, and posted exclusively there the last five days, as I always have problems with my mobile blog app. I've added the posts to my blog this morning, so if you'd like to catch up, you'll find them preceding this post in the order in which they were written.)   I'm one of those quirky people who likes airports. I like to get there early, so as not to be rushed, and get started settling into my vacation mentality. When my airport experience is on the backside of a trip to see my babies, that extra time is usually spent getting myself together after a tragically emotional goodbye. However,...

Loving 101

It was a magical day in the happiest place on earth, just as it should've been. We enjoyed perfect weather, and even though there were heavier crowds than we anticipated, the lines weren't bad at all. One thing I've noticed about Lilli this trip is how she's becoming bolder. She's not as reticent to talk to people she's never met. We were on the carousel, and seated on the regal steed next to Lilli was a little girl who appeared slightly older, and was dressed as Princess Aurora. When the ride was over, Lilli jumped down, turned to the little girl and said "Hi, you're my friend! I like you! Can you come to my house?" After her mother explained that they lived in Michigan, Lilli...

Magic

This is going to be a quick post, because we're heading out early for a Disney day! We've decided that, instead of park-hopping as we usually do, we're going to stay in one park all day: Magic Kingdom. Lilli is tall enough to ride most of the rides and there are so many areas we haven't seen in years. I may be more excited about it than even she will be when she figures out where we're going! Today's Saturday. In the midst of your errand-running and chores, stop for a bit and go play. Do something out of the ordinary...something that makes your heart sing! Maybe you'll find yourself in a magic kingdom all your own! "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under...

Untethered

I enjoyed some rare one-on-one time with my little man yesterday. While Lilli was at her first dentist appointment and signing up for fall preschool (She's 4 in June...say it ain't so!), Brody and I bonded over Duplo blocks and trains. I loved it. He is pulling up and walking all around the furniture, now. But I noticed quite a few times that he'd pick up a block, then, in order to use both hands for better chewing, let go of whatever he was holding on to and just stand there. A few times he managed several seconds, but regardless, each attempt ended with him falling when he realized he was not holding on. I think it's funny that we do the same thing. We hold on to crutches of...

Focus

The scene is the bathtub, and the players are 3-year-old Lilli, and her 10-month-old brother, Brody. Brody is quite enamored with his big sister, as most babies are with bigger kids, and Lilli can make him laugh like nobody's business, so it seemed like a bath together would be a recipe for happiness. And it was...for a while. After watching Lilli intently for a time, and responding favorably to her antics, Brody caught sight of an interesting toy in the water. It's intriguing shape beckoned a good and thorough gumming, so he went for it. His sister was not amused, so she amped up her performance, to the point of sloshing water. No response. Then, taking Brody's face in her hands,...
