His Words for When You Need to Know You’re Loved

We all go through times when we need a little extra assurance that we are loved beyond measure. May Valentine's Day is one of those times for you. Read on and be assured. Know. BELIEVE.   Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10 ESV But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8 ESV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16 ESV Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Time After Time

Yesterday, I did one of those Facebook things that pulls all the words from your posts and tells you which one you use the most. Although I hadn't even considered the word it pulled, it didn't surprise me. Time. I talk about time a lot. "Sometimes," or "That time," or "Remember the time..." I write about moments, and the importance of noting and living in them. I'm kind of a time advocate, it seems, in an age of time waste. When our kids were little (and like so many other children), they called this weekend's holiday "Valentime's Day." This morning, before I got out of bed, I was thinking about all of this in conjunction with my marriage. As I lay there, curled up next to my...

The Power of Touch

I arrived at my normal 8:30, expecting the usual "Mimmie's here!" as 38 lbs. of little boy slammed into my legs. However, the house was quiet, and Emmie let me know that Brody was still asleep. "He had an 'off' day yesterday at school, Mom. I think he's just tired." Then she left for work. I tidied up. Threw in a load of laundry. Did some of my own banking online. Checked the video monitor. Sound to sleep. Read my book. Checked Facebook. Emptied the dishwasher. Checked the video monitor. Sound to sleep. This went on for three and a half hours. THE BOY SLEPT UNTIL NOON. Of course, I actually went into his room several times to check on him. He was breathing, and had no fever, but was...

Half a Life

During my drive back and forth to Emmie's to watch the kids, I listen to a lot of audio books. Words float on the air, in and out of my head like much of those spoken in life. However, now and then a group of words come together to beg me sit up straight, pay attention, and then, to further make a point, proceed to lodge themselves firmly between my ears. Such was the case on a recent trip, and I've been mentally chewing on them since. "You've spent all these years only living half your life. You only see what you could lose instead of what you could gain." ~ Karen White See what I mean? That's an "a ha" sentence right there. Because that's often you and me. Even if you are a...

I hadn't walked down on the property in a while, life just being too darn busy. But I found myself with an unexpected day off, yesterday, and decided to strike out for some fresh air. When I got down to the bottom pasture, I realized the horses were down there. They'd been grazing in a patch of trees beyond my view. Flynn was in the middle of them, now less than a month away from his first birthday, and getting taller and more handsome all the time. The big guys looked up, mid-chew, to acknowledge me, a friendly head nod in my direction before resuming their graze. However, Flynn stopped immediately and headed straight for me, his sweet, trusting gaze taking me in. I spent a minute giving...
