Freedom of Choice Act. Sounds downright patriotic, doesn’t it? Bands playing…flags waving against an azure sky. Don’t be fooled.
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide.
FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and healthcare facilities to perform abortions.
Barack Obama believes this legislation will “end the culture wars.” To him, “ending the culture wars” means eradicating every state and federal law on abortion — laws that the majority of Americans support. [i]
I recently read the following in a post about FOCA by one of our team members, Darlene:
Okay. I am mad. It is okay to be mad as a Christian. Do you think Jesus was happy when he entered the temple and saw business deals going down in His Father’s House? Do you think he tipped those tables and cleared the economic strife with gentleness and joy? I bet he was fuming. And folks, I am there. I am fuming mad. And I don’t often beat around the bush. It is time for us, as Christians, children of God, and followers of Jesus Christ to get busy.
She then followed it up with what she imagined God might be saying to us, regarding this issue:
“Get off your duffers and do something.
Say something.
Quit quibbling about nonsense.
Put your money where your mouth is.
And where your heart is.
Stand shoulder to shoulder with your brothers and sisters.
To be the shining light, you need to turn on your light people!”
I couldn’t agree more. I think we are taking a step in the right direction with our prayer team. We are, essentially, “standing shoulder to shoulder” as we pray together about this issue. There are a couple of other things we can do as well:
Get the word out about our prayer team by posting our grab-button on your sidebar (you’ll find it on mine). Post about it and, if you Facebook, talk about it there, as well. The more people on the team, the stronger we’ll be.
Finally, to keep us accountable, I’d like for each of you to check in by leaving a comment (include your name and state) on the Sunday night post – each week, starting tonight. It will be encouraging to all of us and keep us focused and banded together.
Tomorrow, let’s join hearts together and pray this scripture over our president:
“…Before I formed you in the womb [Barack Obama]I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” Jeremiah 1:4
Lord, we join together this day in prayer for President Obama. Lord we pray that Your Word would be placed before him and that He would be able to see the Living Truth for today that is found in this ancient script. Move him to begin to personalize this scripture to see that his own personal plan was put in motion before he was conceived and that he was “set apart” to stand in this unique position to effect the plans of millions. Burden and convict his heart, O Father, with the weight of his decisions and birth a change toward LIFE. Believing and praying in the MIGHTY, LIFE-GIVING NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

I’m getting your button added right now.
Don’t even get me started about the “obamination” that is our President. His very liberal agenda is certainly on the march. I’m praying it will awaken the Army of God, the army of common sense and the army of the silent millions who are too busy to get involved. If it weren’t for Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity carrying the banner daily I think we would be silent across America.
*climbing off soapbox* Thanks for an excellent post. I’m linking to it if that is OK.
I’m here and I’ved added the button to my post today. I didn’t say much but directed the readers to visit your blog and read what you said, very powerful!
I’m praying that he will recognize he is foolish and in need of Almighty God! That his heart will open afresh with the love of a daddy towards his two girls and stop this nonsense.
Please, LORD, let it be so.
Standing shoulder to shoulder, Yolanda Ulysses, KS.
I stand with all of you. I speak about the subject of CHOOSING LIFE as is God’s will on one of my blogs Speak on it with LisaS.
I’m glad to find another sister(s) in Christ that are standing as ONE on this. I already pray daily regarding this because it’s such a burden to the heart of GOD and to our own so I join with you all.

Melinda thanks for keeping the spotlight on this huge massive issue!!!!
This year,God has pressed on my heart to keep a prayer journal and to pray from the heart.
Don’t get me wrong,I’ve always gone to God in prayer but I felt in my heart they were becoming just “words.”
I will commit myself to being in prayer with you on Monday morning for the next year.
Thank you for the visit to my blog and the invite to join you in this wounderful thing called “Life.”
In His Grace,

Melinda,
I can commit to prayer on this topic each Monday morning for the year. Thanks for starting this!
I haven’t been happy with the things I have seen come out of Washington for some time.
I will share the information about your efforts with my friends online and in person.
Prayer changes things.
