His Words (for when you’re afraid)

Every Sunday around here is for His Words instead of mine. Everyone feels afraid sometimes, maybe even today. He has something to say about that.

For I hold you by your right hand—
    I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
    ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. ~ Isaiah 41:13 NLT

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9 NLT

I sought the Lord, and he answered me
    and delivered me from all my fears. ~ Psalm 34:4 ESV

The fear of man lays a snare,
    but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. ~ Proverbs 29:25 ESV

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” ~ Romans 8:15 NLT

But when I am afraid,
    I will put my trust in you.
I praise God for what he has promised.
    I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
    What can mere mortals do to me? ~ Psalm 56:3-4 NLT

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  ~ Romans 8:38-39 ESV

But now, God’s Message,
    the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
    the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
    I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
    When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
    it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
    The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
    all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
    That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
    trade the creation just for you. ~ Isaiah 43:1-4 MSG

Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God. ~ Deuteronomy 7:21 NIV

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ~ Psalm 27:1 ESV

But Jesus was quick to comfort them. “Courage, it’s me. Don’t be afraid.” ~ Matthew 14:27 MSG

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

So we can say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper,
    so I will have no fear.
    What can mere people do to me?” ~ Hebrews 13:6 NLT
